ROGER L. HANDY, CPA/PFS, CFP®

Roger is a Certified Public Accountant and President of the local public accounting firm of Roger L. Handy PC.  Roger has earned the designations of Personal Financial Specialist and  Certified Financial Planner.  Virginia Business magazine has designated Roger as a SuperCPA through nomination by his peers.

Prior to starting Roger L. Handy PC, Roger was a partner of the regional public accounting firm of Cherry, Bekaert & Holland, LLP.  Roger was a consultant in CBH Business Services, LLC.  Before 2002, Roger was secretary and partner of the local public accounting firm Frederick B. Hill and Company, P.C., CPAs, where he began practice in 1977.  Roger was the managing member of Hill's wealth advisory practice, providing investment, insurance, estate, and financial planning services.

He provides owners of closely-held businesses, not-for-profit organizations and individuals with auditing, accounting, tax, consulting, and financial services.  Roger  offers investments as a Registered Representative of Lincoln Financial Securities Corporation and offers advisory services as an Advisory Representative of Level Four Advisory Services.  Roger enjoys working with clients on a variety of investment, insurance, estate and financial planning matters. 

Roger earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce from the University of Virginia in 1977.  He is former president and member of the Executive Committee of The Virginia Group of CPA Firms, Inc., member of the Peer Review Committee,  past member of the Personal Financial Planning Committee and past-chairman of the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants (VSCPA) Continuing Professional Education Steering Committee.  He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Personal Financial Planning Division and has earned the designation of Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) through the AICPA, where he qualifies as a Peer Review Team Captain.  Roger is a member of the Virginia Beach Hotel & Motel Association, Hampton Roads Tax Forum, and Hampton Roads Estate Planning Council. 

Roger volunteers and is active at London Bridge Baptist Church and has served as a member of the Lions Club, trustee of the Lions Charity Foundation and council treasurer of Boy Scouts of America, Tidewater Council, Inc.  Roger serves on the board of directors of the University Place I Unit Owners Association.
